A Thai woman has divorced her husband after she found out he had lied about being a millionaire.
The woman paid for her and her now ex-husband’s luxurious wedding, which has put her into 5.7 million baht in debt.
There was also a dowry payment of 1.6 million baht that the man was supposed to pay his bride’s family.
According to Thailand divorce lawyers, dowries–known as a Sin Sod in the country–are still common and a part of most Thai wedding ceremonies.
The man claimed that he was sitting on millions of Thai baht and had his own private jet company.
He also touted that he had been former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s close confidant.
In reality, her ex-husband was a mushroom seller Pathumthani province.
After the night of the extravagant wedding, the husband split and hasn’t been seen again.
