Men Tend to Get Hooked on Booze more than Women after Divorce

by admin on August 24, 2012

A new study authored by Corinne Reczec, assistant professor in sociology at the University of  Cincinnati, suggests that men are more prone to hit the bottle than their female counterparts after divorce.

There are different health consequences of divorce for men and women in regard to alcohol use. For men, divorce is more likely to result in alcohol abuse than for women, Prof. Reczec said.

The study presented to the American Sociological Association in an annual meeting indicates that divorced men are particularly high risk of alcohol abuse because they tend to drink frequently than women in general.

While divorce takes its toll with men and women alike, men who divorce in Thailand may have greater temptation to turn to drinking and engage in casual sex as self medication due to the abundance of bars and red light districts inThailand.
