Thai Celebrity Parent’s Engage in Nasty Custody Battle

by admin on October 8, 2020

Two celebrities made famous in Thailand’s media circles by the name of Pirat “Mike” Nitipaisakul and Sarah Casinghini have made headlines due to their ongoing custody battle revolving around their son Maxwell. A byproduct of which shows how the Thai Judicial system favors the mother in regards to custody.

News sources have stated that Mike and Sarah have been feuding over custody of their son Maxwell since the child’s birth. According to Thai Attorney Jitsopin Narasettapong, if the parents of a child were not married at the time of the child’s birth normally only the mother and not the father has custody rights until there is a court order granting paternity to the father.

Attorney Narasettapong has also stated filing paternity cases in conjunction with custody claims can improve the chances of a father achieving custody rights with more certainty. Although the Thailand Family Code Section 1548 allows registration of paternity with the consent of mother and child (over the age of 7) in practice, most government offices will not register paternity without a court order.
