A California woman was granted child support from a court almost 50 years after her divorce from her ex-husband.

The woman, Toni Anderson, said that her ex-husband abandoned her in the 1970s, leaving her to care for her 3-year-old daughter alone.

Anderson’s ex-husband fled to Canada rather than pay his child support dues.

Anderson said that she was able to support her daughter to travel and go to university but eventually the money she earned as an interior designer ran out, forcing her to go to court.

She states that one night she remembered that child support has no statute of limitations so she notified her ex-husband who now lives in Oregon.

The child support payment was $160 a month but now with accrued interest on the failed payments, totals &170,000.
